How do I take Ultimate V?

Take one capsule a day, ideally first thing when you wake.

What affects your vaginal microbiome?

Your vaginal microbiome isn't fixed. It changes throughout your life, and even across your monthly cycle, in response to what's happening in your body.

  • Age
  • Periods
  • Pregnancy
  • Menopause
  • Sexual activity
  • Antibiotics
  • Diet
  • Lifestyle

When the balance shifts, harmful microbes can take hold, and this has been linked to conditions including Bacterial Vaginosis (BV), Aerobic Vaginitis (AV) and Thrush. Specific vaginal strains show potential in preventing and managing these conditions. Ultimate V offers targeted probiotic support with four vaginal Lactobacillus strains, the species most commonly found in a healthy vagina.

If you're pregnant or breastfeeding

Ultimate V is suitable in pregnancy and while breastfeeding, when changing hormones can shift your vaginal microbiome.

If you're in menopause

Falling oestrogen can change your vaginal microbiome. Ultimate V is suitable in menopause as part of your daily routine.

If you're taking antibiotics

Ultimate V can be taken alongside prescription antibiotics or antifungals. Ideally take it two to four hours apart from your antibiotic.

Four vaginal Lactobacillus strains

Isolated from the vaginal tract of healthy pregnant women and chosen for their role in a balanced vaginal microbiota.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus

Commonly found in women with a healthy vaginal and urinary system, and one of the most extensively researched Lactobacillus species for urinary tract health.

Lactobacillus gasseri

FAQs

Who is Ultimate V for?

Ultimate V is for anyone who wants targeted probiotic support for their vaginal microbiome. It's suitable at different life stages, including pregnancy, breastfeeding and menopause. If you have ongoing symptoms, we'd always recommend speaking to your healthcare professional as well.

How can a capsule I swallow support my vaginal microbiome?

The four strains in Ultimate V were isolated from the vaginal tract of healthy pregnant women, and have been researched for their ability to reach the vagina alive after being taken by mouth. Lactobacillus species are the most common bacteria found in a healthy vagina.

Can I take Ultimate V with antibiotics or antifungals?

Yes. Ultimate V can be taken alongside prescription antibiotics or antifungals, ideally two to four hours apart from your antibiotic. If you're unsure about any other medication, please check with your doctor.

Is Ultimate V suitable in pregnancy and while breastfeeding?

Yes, Ultimate V is suitable in pregnancy and while breastfeeding. As with any supplement, you're welcome to check with your midwife or GP if you'd like reassurance.

Is Ultimate V suitable for vegans and people with allergies?

Ultimate V is suitable for vegans, Halal certified, and contains none of the 14 major allergens as ingredients. It is made in a facility that also handles dairy, so please take this into account if you have a milk allergy.

What does 5 billion CFU mean?

CFU stands for colony forming units, a measure of how many live bacteria are present. Some manufacturers count CFUs at the point of production, but bacteria naturally decline over time. Ultimate V contains 5 billion live CFU at the end of its shelf life when stored correctly, so you get the full amount right up to the best before date.

How is Ultimate V made?

Our probiotic cultures are produced at sites certified to FSSC 22000, an internationally recognised food safety standard. The bacteria are handled in a controlled, dry, nitrogen-filled environment, and each capsule is individually sealed in a blister pack to keep it protected until you take it.

How should I store Ultimate V?

Keep it below 25°C and out of reach of children. You'll find the best before date on the side of the box.

In a heatwave, it can be popped in the fridge temporarily. Short term temperature rises are not a risk to the stability of the live bacteria.

What's the difference between Ultimate V and Ultimate UT?

Both contain the same four Lactobacillus strains. Ultimate V is a daily capsule with 5 billion CFU plus biotin, which contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes. Ultimate UT is a powder in sachets, with 2.5 billion CFU plus 2 g of D-Mannose, designed with urinary tract support in mind.

Do I need to take the microbiome test first?

No, you can take Ultimate V without testing. If you'd like a clearer picture of your own microbiome, our Vaginal Microbiome Test is an at-home screening tool that maps 53 species, and it can help you and your clinician decide on the right support.
