Live cultures food supplement - 2.5 billion live colony forming units (CFUs) - 30 sachets

Ultimate UT is an award winning and patented blend of vaginal Lactobacillus strains, and added D-mannose. D-mannose prevents certain types of bacteria, such as E.coli, a common uropathogen, from adhering to the walls of the urinary tract, reducing the risk of infection.

The bacteria that cause Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) tend to originate in the gut, but they can also be present in the vaginal microbiome if protective species like lactobacillus are reduced. To cause a UTI, these microbes ‘translocate’ from the vagina, or sometimes even from a partner. Sex, exercise and being dehydrated are common triggers for bladder infections.

How do I take Ultimate UT

Sprinkle the contents of one sachet over your food, or dissolve it in a large glass of water and mix well. It's best taken with food, ideally in the morning, and has a slightly sweet taste. For intensive use, take one sachet three times a day for the first three days, then two a day for the next two days, then one a day for the rest of the pack. Please don't exceed the recommended daily dose.

What is in Ultimate UT

Each sachet contains:

2 g of D-Mannose and four vaginal Lactobacillus strains:

L. crispatus (LBV88)

L. rhamnosus (LBV96)

L. gasseri (LBV150N)

L. jensenii (LBV116)

providing 2.5 billion live CFU by the end of shelf life when stored correctly.

Other ingredients: Inulin, a prebiotic fibre that feeds the bacteria

Each pack contains 30 sachets of dissolvable powder

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle

How your vaginal microbiome affects your bladder

Your vaginal and bladder microbiomes are closely linked. A healthy vaginal microbiome, dominated by Lactobacillus species, helps stop harmful bacteria from colonising and travelling to the urinary tract.

When the balance shifts, bacteria such as E. coli can take hold more easily, and this has been linked to recurrent UTIs. Ultimate UT offers targeted probiotic support with four vaginal Lactobacillus strains plus D-Mannose.

UTIs affect up to half of women in their lifetime, and 30 to 44% of those who have one will have a recurrence within three months.

If you have recurrent UTIs

Recurrent UTIs are often linked to changes in the vaginal microbiome, including fewer protective lactobacilli. Ultimate UT offers daily targeted support.

If you're in menopause

Falling oestrogen changes the urogenital microbiome, which can make UTIs more likely. Ultimate UT can be part of your daily routine.

If you're taking antibiotics

UTIs are often treated with antibiotics. Ultimate UT can be taken alongside them, ideally two to four hours apart.

Inside Ultimate UT

Four vaginal Lactobacillus strains

Isolated from the vaginal tract of healthy pregnant women and chosen for their role in a balanced vaginal microbiota.

Lactobacillus crispatus

LBV 88

Lactobacillus crispatus

The most abundant microbe in a healthy vagina, producing lactic acid and hydrogen peroxide, which help keep harmful bacteria and yeast in check.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus

LBV 96

Lactobacillus rhamnosus

Commonly found in women with a healthy vaginal and urinary system, and one of the most extensively researched Lactobacillus species for urinary tract health.

Lactobacillus gasseri

LBV 150N

Lactobacillus gasseri

A common and beneficial inhabitant of the vagina, producing lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide and lactocillin, an antimicrobial compound.

Lactobacillus jensenii

LBV 116

Lactobacillus jensenii

Makes up around a quarter of the vaginal microbiota in a well-balanced vaginal environment, producing compounds that support the vagina's natural defences.

Plus

D-Mannose

A naturally occurring sugar found in fruits including cranberries.

2 g per sachet

Women consult me for answers to recurrent thrush, urinary tract infections and bacterial vaginosis having tried many other treatments.
I now recommend Ultimate UT and Ultimate V to my patients as these contain the specific lactobacilli associated with vaginal health.

FAQs

Who is Ultimate UT for?

Ultimate UT is for anyone who wants targeted probiotic support for their vaginal microbiome, with urinary tract health in mind. If you have ongoing or recurrent symptoms, we'd always recommend speaking to your healthcare professional as well.

How can a product I swallow support my vaginal microbiome?

The four strains in Ultimate UT were isolated from the vaginal tract of healthy pregnant women, and have been researched for their ability to reach the vagina alive after being taken by mouth. Lactobacillus species are the most common bacteria found in a healthy vagina.

What is D-Mannose?

D-Mannose is a naturally occurring sugar, closely related to glucose, found in fruits including cranberries. Each sachet of Ultimate UT contains 2 g.

D mannose will be absorbed relatively quickly into the bloodstream and excreted out via the renal tubular cells in the urine.

Can I take Ultimate UT if I have diabetes?

Please talk to your doctor before taking Ultimate UT. D-Mannose is a type of sugar related to glucose.

Is Ultimate UT suitable for vegans and people with allergies?

Ultimate UT is suitable for vegans and contains none of the 14 major allergens as ingredients, including soya. It is made in a facility that also handles dairy, so please take this into account if you have a milk allergy.

Should I still see my GP or pharmacist?

Yes. Ultimate UT is targeted probiotic support, not a substitute for treatment. If you think you have a UTI, especially with a fever, pain in your back or side, or blood in your urine, speak to your GP or pharmacist promptly.

Can I take Ultimate UT with antibiotics or antifungals?

Yes. Ultimate UT can be taken alongside prescription antibiotics or antifungals, ideally two to four hours apart from your antibiotic. If you're unsure about any other medication, please check with your doctor.

Can I take Ultimate UT with hipprex?

Yes, take it 2-4 hours apart

How is my vaginal microbiome linked to UTIs?

Research has found close similarities between the vaginal and bladder microbiota. Women with recurrent UTIs often have fewer of the protective lactobacilli that usually dominate a healthy vaginal microbiome, and higher levels of bacteria such as E. coli. The vagina can also act as a reservoir for other bacteria known to cause UTIs, including Klebsiella, Enterococcus faecalis and Streptococcus species

What does 2.5 billion CFU mean?

CFU stands for colony forming units, a measure of how many live bacteria are present. Some manufacturers count CFUs at the point of production, but bacteria naturally decline over time. Ultimate UT contains 2.5 billion live CFU at the end of its shelf life when stored correctly, so you get the full amount right up to the best before date.

How is Ultimate UT made?

Our probiotic cultures are produced at sites certified to FSSC 22000, an internationally recognised food safety standard. The bacteria are handled in a controlled, dry, nitrogen-filled environment, and each dose is individually sealed in a sachet to keep it protected until you take it.

How should I store Ultimate UT?

Keep it below 25°C and out of reach of children. You'll find the best before date on the side of the box.

What's the difference between Ultimate UT and Ultimate V?

Both contain the same four Lactobacillus strains. Ultimate UT is a powder in sachets, with 2.5 billion CFU plus 2 g of D-Mannose, designed with urinary tract support in mind. Ultimate V is a daily capsule with 5 billion CFU plus biotin, which contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes.

Do I need to take the microbiome test first?

No, you can take Ultimate UT without testing. If you'd like a clearer picture of your own microbiome, our Vaginal Microbiome Test is an at-home screening tool that maps 53 species, and it can help you and your clinician decide on the right support.
